What do I need to register a vehicle?
If the vehicle is 2000 and newer you need the title signed over by the seller to you on the back, with the exact mileage or if you purchased a 2000 and newer vehicle from a NH authorized dealer they should have given you a NH title application.
If the vehicle is 1999 and older you need a bill of sale, which must include the following:
- Date of sale;
- Name, address, & signature of purchaser;
- Name, address, & signature of seller;
- Description of the vehicle, including:
- Make
- Model
- Vehicle identification number
- Year of vehicle
- Type of vehicle
- Number of cylinders
In addition to a detailed bill of sale, the state requires one of following three to be included:
1. A copy of a title for the vehicle (even though it is old enough to not be titled, sometimes the title is passed along).
2. A photocopy of current NH registration from the seller.
3. TDMV 19A-NH VIN Verification, which is to be completed by a police officer from NH or a licensed inspection station in NH.
